• En-R-Gee

For years, I dieted so hard and consistently that my metabolism nearly shut down. It got so bad that when I tried to diet I could not even lose 10 pounds without a HUGE struggle. It has been absolutely unreal - and ironic - because I have always helped other people lose weight while I was fighting a losing battle myself.

I tried every supplement I could find, things I once used no longer worked, and as I put myself through STRENUOUS diets and workouts that would kill the average person, my basal body temperature stayed chronically low. I experienced coldness, constant fatigue, muscle weakness, and other signs of a slow thyroid along with anemia, because I was working too hard and not feeding my body correctly!!!

ONE week ago, I began taking the above-mentioned supplements along with walking or running 1-4 miles a day, and NOT killing myself as I usually do. It’s hard for me to restrain myself but I decided what I was doing was always a strenuous QUICK Fix I need to do this the slower healthier way …

I have not weighed myself yet and don’t want to become focused on the SCALE!!! I have lost some inches and cut a lot of fat tape measure wise ;o)

I also feel REALY Good!!! So Week One down onto the next … Wanna join me come on along it will not be easy but the end results will be worth it!!! Shoot me an e-mail or give me a call if you need a BOOST or just some help in getting started!

The Best and the Worst .... Losing FAT!!! I PROMISE YOU I KNOW!!!!!

To get on track contact me!!

The Worst Way to Get Rid of Fat

The problem is that while dieting may be the fastest way to burn fat, it is the worst way to keep it off.

Dieting without exercise as a route to weight loss is doomed to failure because muscle is always lost along with fat. When weight is regained, most of the poundage returns as fat-not muscle. This means that with continued dieting, your body composition inevitably becomes fattier and less lean. This can permanently slow down your metabolism because muscle burns 20 to 25 times more calories than fat. To maintain a pound of fat, your body burns two calories a day; to maintain a pound of muscle, your body burns 40 to 50 calories a day.

So if you lose 15 pounds on a get-slim-quick diet, and then regain it, you will actually burn 246 less calories than prior to the diet. This is why after an unsuccessful get-slim-quick diet, you not only regain more weight but you also have a harder time keeping it off!!!

After three or four "successful" diets, your body's basal metabolic rate can become significantly lowered-in some cases by up to 40 percent.

The Best Way to Burn Fat Permanently

The best way to permanently shed unwanted flab is through a combination of moderate exercise, weight training, and proper diet.

There are three reasons why exercising and weight training work to slenderize the body:

1. By adding muscle, you permanently raise your metabolic rate, since muscle burns 25 times more calories than fat. Muscle is active tissue that continually consumes energy - even while resting or sleeping. In contrast, fat is inert and requires little energy to maintain.

2. When you convert fat to muscle, you automatically slenderize yourself because muscle takes up less space than the same weight of fat.

3. Studies have shown that people with more muscles are more energetic. This encourages them to be more active and do more exercising. This creates a self-perpetuating cycle of fat-burning Yippeee!!!

Because muscle weighs more than fat, this means that you might not lose weight if you convert fat into muscle. In fact, many people gain weight after starting a weight-loss program even though they look leaner. This can be very disconcerting to people who are conditioned to associating leaner bodies with less weight. If they stick with their weight training, they will begin to lose weight eventually. However, this is not the real goal. A true slenderizing program is designed to make the body leaner, regardless of what you weigh afterwards.

PLEASE HEAR THAT??

A TRUE SLENDERIZING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE THE BODY LEANER, REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU WEIGH AFTERWARDS!!!

Three Studies ... Interesting Information!!!

The effects of the inhalation method using essential oils on blood pressure and stress responses of clients with essential hypertension

[Article in Korean] Hwang JH. jhhang@kc.ac.kr

Abstract

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to indentify the effects of aromatherapy on blood pressure and stress responses of clients with essential hypertension.

METHOD: There were fifty-two subjects divided into an essential oil group, placebo group, and control group by random assignment. The application of aromatherapy was the inhalation method if blending oils with lavender, ylang-ylang and bergamot once daily for 4 weeks. To evaluate the effects of aromatherapy, blood pressure and pulse were measured two times a week and serum cortisol levels, catecholamine levels, subjective stress, and state anxiety were measured before and after treatment in the three groups. Data was analyzed by repeated measures of ANOVA, one-way ANOVA, and chi(2)-test using the SPSS 10.0 program.

RESULTS: the blood pressure, pulse, subjective stress, state anxiety, and serum cortisol levels among the three groups were significantly statistically different. The differences of catecholamine among the three groups were not significant statistically.

CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the inhalation method using essential oils can be considered an effective nursing intervention that reduces psychological stress responses and serum cortisol levels, as well as the blood pressure of clients with essential hypertension.

Ambient odors of orange and lavender reduce anxiety and improve mood in a dental office.

Lehrner J, Marwinski G, Lehr S, Johren P, Deecke L.

University Clinic of Neurology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria. johann.lehrner@meduniwien.ac.at

Abstract

PURPOSE: The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of the essential oils of orange and lavender on anxiety, mood, alertness and calmness in dental patients.

METHOD: Two hundred patients between the ages of 18 and 77 years (half women, half men) were assigned to one of four independent groups. While waiting for dental procedures patients were either stimulated with ambient odor of orange or ambient odor of lavender. These conditions were compared to a music condition and a control condition (no odor, no music). Anxiety, mood, alertness and calmness were assessed while patients waited for dental treatment.

RESULTS: Statistical analyses revealed that compared to control condition both ambient odors of orange and lavender reduced anxiety and improved mood in patients waiting for dental treatment.

CONCLUSION: These findings support the previous opinion that odors are capable of altering emotional states and may indicate that the use of odors is helpful in reducing anxiety in dental patients

Weight Loss - The Natural, effective and Healthy Way!

Lose weight NOW! Aromatherapy and Scent ...
The sense of smell is the only one of the five senses directly linked to the limbic lobe of the brain, the emotional control center.

Anxiety, depression, fear, anger, and joy all emanate from this region. The limbic lobe (a group of brain structures that includes the hippocampus and amygdala) can directly activate the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is one of the most important parts of the brain, acting as our hormonal control center. It releases chemical messengers that can affect everything from sex drive to energy levels, and yes this includes weight loss. The production of growth hormones, sex hormones, thyroid hormones, and neurotransmitters such as serotonin, are all governed by the hypothalamus. This is why many refer to the hypothalamus as the
‘MASTER GLAND’.

Essential Oils Used to Reduce Appetite

Essential oils may be used to reduce appetite and produce significant reductions in weight because of their ability to stimulate the ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus, a section of the brain that governs our feeling of satiety or fullness following meals.

In a large clinical study, Alan R Hirsch, M.D., F.A.C.P., (Journal of Annals of Clinical and Laboratory Science) used fragrances, including peppermint, to trigger significant weight losses in a large group of patients who had previously been unsuccessful in any type of weight-management program. During the course of the six-month study involving over 3,000 people, the average weight loss exceeded 30 pounds. According to Dr. Hirsch, some patients had to be dropped from the study early because no more weight could be lost without becoming underweight.

Dr. Hirsch' book Scentsational Weight Loss shows through years of research, Dr. Alan Hirsch has determined that what we smell can influence what and how much we eat. This revolutionary new book teaches them to literally sniff away excess pounds and break their old patterns of eating, thereby losing the weight they keep fighting against.

Equally as important to the above information is having an understanding of the role a healthy liver plays in metabolizing fat. The body stores environmental toxins in our fat cells to save them from being deposited in our organs and wreaking havoc. Toxins saturate the cells with a filmy layer and prevent them from taking in nutrition. This initiates a cycle where more fat cells are produced to store more toxins and you can see
where this leads.

Healthy Liver

Essential oils digest the filmy layer that saturates the cell wall and the essential oil’s high content of oxygen carries nutrients directly into the cell. Essential oils are also natural expectorants, meaning they are going to push all the toxins out of storage for the body to eliminate. It is vitally important to support healthy liver function with any weight loss program.
Young Living has the world-class selection of products enhanced with therapeutic grade essential oils to assist with healthy digestive, liver and colon function.

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE
Volumes of research and clinical trials have validated the benefit of using certain scents to lose weight. Unlike many weight loss products on the market, Aromatherapy and the study of Scent is backed by over 25 years of data. Studies have consistently shown that scents alone can curb the appetite and promote weight loss.

In one study, Dr. Alan Hirsch of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation explored whether certain scents might help people lose weight. A leading expert in the science of smell, Dr. Hirsch had noticed that many of his patients who had lost their sense of smell began to gain weight. He hypothesized that smell and hunger must be related. To study his theory, Hirsch gave 3,193 overweight subjects scent inhalers and told them to inhale them throughout the day whenever they had cravings and before each meal. Participants were told not to alter their weight loss routine in any other way. After 6 months, study participants who frequently used the inhalers lost an average of 30 pounds, or about 5 pounds per month! Dr. Hirsch concluded that by simply sniffing certain scents, people could shed pounds, without any conscious change in diet or exercise. “It’s all a matter of fooling the brain”. Satisfaction, he maintains, comes not from a full stomach, but from the brain interpreting the scent as food eaten. The primary factor in determining how much weight the participants lost was the frequency with which they used the scent inhalers. Simply put, the more you use Scent, the better it works!
Similar research done at the Human Neuro-Sensory Laboratory in Washington, D.C. also supports those previous findings. Researchers gave 80 people one of two scent inhalation devices. The first contained a combination of specially selected scents while the other was a placebo. Subjects were asked to inhale the scents three times before and after each meal. At the end of the six-month trial, participants who used the scents lost an average of 19 pounds while the placebo group lost only an average of 4 pounds. This study proves in a randomized, double blind fashion, that the inhalation of specially formulated scents is effective in appetite control, reduction of food cravings, and weight loss.

In yet another study, researchers at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia studied the effects of scent on research participants’ appetites. Participants who were exposed to the scent used in Aromatherapy consumed nearly 3000 fewer total calories from saturated fat, total fat, and sugar each week. That’s about 23% less calories based on an 1800 calorie/day diet for 7 days. Participants also rated their hunger level significantly lower during the scent inhalation. According to the researchers, “the primary implication of these results is that scent can be used as an effective adjunct to decrease appetite, decrease hunger cravings, and consume fewer calories, which may lead to weight reduction and greater overall heath”.

With a success rate of almost 100%, the use of specific scents to aid in weight loss has been proven in case studies over and over again. Specific Essential Oils simply makes you feel fuller sooner without hunger or deprivation. In fact, many people using Aromatherapy have reported that they didn’t even realize they were consuming so fewer calories until they weighed themselves at the end of the month and discovered how much weight they had lost. Others said they were pleasantly surprised to notice that they began leaving food on their plates because they just couldn’t eat as much. Still others noted that by simply using specific essential oils via a diffuser while at work, they no longer had the urge to visit the snack machine throughout the day. Essential Oils can be used in conjunction with any Personal Diffuser Pendants and Young Living Supplements. A diet and exercise routine to lose even more weight than simply diet alone is also key!

An Aromatherapy - Weight Loss Journey Begins!!!

Let’s work on Staying Lean FOR LIFE!!!

On any given day, half of all American women and a quarter of all men are dieting. So why has the number of people who are overweight increased from 59 percent of the population in 1986 to 71 percent in 2008?

Statistics gathered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) show that within one year of completing a successful weight loss program, 90 percent of dieters regained every pound they lost-and more. These same NIH statistics showed that within three to five years, 95 to 98 percent of dieters "found" their lost pounds.

Let us change these statistics!

Stay tuned and follow my Blog for continued information and updates ...

GOT ALLERGIES? I've found 3 Essential Oils that work WONDERS! No more PILLS for me!!!

Allergies are some of the most common everyday health challenges. Believe it or not, it's the number 1 reason people see a doctor!

Headaches, stuffy/runny nose, sore throat, watery eyes, cough and sneezing are all common allergy symptoms. Fortunately, there are plenty of safe and effective ways to relieve them and using therapeutic grade essential oils is one of the best ways.

The essential oils of lavender, RC and eucalyptus are well known for their ability to relieve allergic symptoms.

LAVENDER

Lavender (Lavendula agustofolia) is one of the best essential oils for combating allergies, such as hay fever. Pure, therapeutic grade Lavender is a natural antihistamine.

I've used it many times when I've waken up with a stuffy nose and watery eyes. After applying it, I've felt relief within minutes!

Here's how to use Lavender for allergy relief:

Topically - Apply 1 drop to your cheeks, forehead and sinuses, as needed.

Inhalation - Diffuse it in a cold air diffuser for 15 minutes every 2 hours.

Direct Inhalation - Apply 1-2 drops to the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and cup them over your nose. Inhale 4-6 deep breaths as needed,
OR
Apply  1-2 drops on one of my Clay Pendants and bring to your nose and deep inhale as needed. Pendants

Ingestion - (Yes, Young Living's lavender is safe to ingest!) Take an empty "00" size capsule,
found at most health food stores, and fill the larger half of the capsule with 5 drops of Lavender. Fill the rest of the large half of the capsule with organic olive oil. Swallow with soy, rice or regular milk, 2 times a day.

 RC

I have found RC to be really helpful with my daughters allergies, she is 8.

RC is a blend of essential oils that relieves allergies PLUS colds, bronchitis, sore throats, sinusitis and coughs. RC includes eucalyptus, myrtle, pine, spruce, marjoram, lavender, cypress and peppermint essential oils.

Here's how to use RC for allergy relief:

Topically - Apply 1 drop to your cheeks, forehead, sinuses, or chest as needed. If you have sensitive skin, you might want to dilute this blend with a drop of organic olive oil, just to be safe.

I've used this blend on a q-tip and swabbed inside my nose to relieve a stuffy nose from a cold.
Inhalation - Diffuse it in a cold air diffuser as often as needed.
Direct Inhalation - Apply 1-2 drops to your palms and cup over your nose. Inhale 4-6 deep breaths throughout the day to ease symptoms.
OR
Apply 1-2 drops on one of my Clay Pendants and bring to your nose and deep inhale as needed. Pendants

EUCALYPTUS

Eucalyptus radiata is cooling, refreshing, and energizing. Lighter in smell than Eucalyptus globulus, it has many of the same supportive properties. Because it is relatively gentle and nonirritating, it is the preferred choice for children. This variety is one of the most versatile of the eucalyptus oils and is suitable for topical use, diffusing, and even direct inhalation. It has long been an ingredient in some of Young Living's most popular blends.

Many people find that eucalyptus essential oil also relieves their allergies. There are a few types of eucalyptus. The best and safest one for allergies is Eucalyptus radiata. It's great for respiratory, sinus and viral infections.
Here's how to use eucalyptus for allergy relief:
Topically - Rub 1 drop of Eucalyptus radiata (mixed with 1 drop of organic olive oil) to your cheeks, forehead and sinuses.
Inhalation - Diffuse in a cold air diffuser, as needed.
Direct Inhalation - Apply 1 drop to your palms and cup over your nose. Take 4-6 deep breaths as often as needed.
OR
Apply 1-2 drops on one of my Clay Pendants and bring to your nose and deep inhale as needed. Pendants

Allergy Bonus tip - Neti Pot ... Using a Neti Pot is another great way to keep your nasal passages cleaned from pollens, pollution, dust, dander, etc. A Neti Pot is a tea-pot shaped kettle that is filled with saline solution,Using a Neti Pot in conjunction with therapeutic grade essential oils can help keep your allergies and hay fever symptoms from reoccurring.

Essential oils are aromatic volatile liquids distilled from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds.

Essential oils are some of the oldest and most powerful therapeutic agents known. Most people today are unaware that they have an impressive, multimillennium history of use in healing and anointing throughout the ancient world. Dozens of essential oils are cited repeatedly in Judeo-Christian religious texts and records show they were used to treat virtually every ailment known to man at that time. Frankincense, myrrh, lotus, cedarwood, and sandalwood oils were widely used in ancient Egyptian purification and embalming rituals. Other oils, like cinnamon, clove and lemon, were highly valued as antiseptics hundreds of years before the development of today's synthetic medicines.

With the advance of antibiotics and prescription drugs during the last century, natural therapeutic agents, especially essential oils, have been largely overlooked. Only during the last two decades have essential oils begun a resurgence in popularity in the United States, as their broad-spectrum antibacterialand therapeutic action is rediscovered by many researchers and health-care professionals. No doubt part of the reason essential oils have been slow to emerge--especially in the United States--is because they were heavily extended and adulterated for commercial use, destroying their therapeutic biochemistry and making them useful only as air-freshening or flavoring compounds.

In their pure state, essential oils are some of the most concentrated natural extracts known, exhibiting significant and immediate antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and hormone-balancing effects. In clinical practice, they have been shown to have a profound influence on the central nervous system, helping to reduce or eliminate pain, release muscle tension and provide strong emotional uplift.

The chemical structure of an essential oil is such that it can rapidly penetrate cell membranes, travel throughout the blood and tissues, and enhance cellular function. For those health professionals who have worked regularly with quality essential oils on patients, it has become very clear that there is a powerful life force inherent in these substances, which gives them an unmatched ability to communicate and interact with cells in the human body.

For many there is no doubt that essential oils are ordained as medicines for mankind and will provide critical medical solutions in the future. They could very well be the missing link of modern health care, bringing allopathic and holistic practice together for optimal health in the 21st century.

Healthy-minded people the world over have learned the value of using high quality natural herbs. Interestingly, most therapeutic herbs can be distilled into an essential oil. The key difference is one of concentration. The essential oil can be from 100 to 10,000 times more concentrated--and thereforemore potent--than the herb itself.

Even though they are many times more potent than natural herbs, essential oils--unlike prescription drugs--very rarely generate any negative side effects. This carries profound implications for those wanting to maintain or regain their health quickly AND naturally.

Sometimes the effects of administering essential oils are so dramatic that the patients themselves call it "miraculous." And while no one fully understands yet why or how essential oils provide such significant benefits, the fact is that they do. With pure essential oils, millions of people can find relief from disease, from infections, from pain, and even from mental difficulties. Their therapeutic potential is enormousand is only just beginning to be tapped.

Aromachology ... Aromatherapy - Do you know the difference?

Too many questions I guess. I figured you probably will still be trying to figure out the meaning of one or both terms. A simple definition; aromachology is the study of aromas. However, it doesn’t just stop there because the study tries to find out the benefits of pleasant smells to man. A more accurate, acceptable and encompassing definition is therefore needed. Thus Aromachology can be defined as the study of aroma and the effects this fragrance have on humans especially on their psychology and behavior. Aromachology was first described by the Sense Smell Institute, a division of Fragrance Foundation about 20 years ago, a non-profit organization involved in research programs for the international fragrance industry. In this scientific study, researchers are not limited to the study of only naturally occurring fragrance but also take into consideration, the psychological effects of the synthetic forms. Basically Aromachology draws a lot of interest from the business world especially from perfume manufacturing industry, so the studies are mostly bank-rolled by them.
An understanding of the differences between aromachology and aromatherapy is necessary especially if one is in the relevant industry. While Aromatherapy, an ancient art of healing aims to enhance well-being through the pure essential oils of aromatic plant stems, leaves or flowers, Aromachology, in contrast, describes the science that studies how a pleasant aroma--derived from the laboratory synthetically or naturally--affects human psychology.
Many dubious manufacturers offer products containing synthetic fragrances and fillers with little or no trace of true natural plant essences, yet claim they have aromatherapeutic effects and users only end up with aromachological effects which makes a case for why people should understand the differences between these two in order to be properly guided. A lot of people, who desire aromatherapy, have ended up with aromachology effects and vice versa. A quick glance through the ingredients list of popular aromatherapy room deodorizing spray, for example, rarely will show the exclusive use of genuine natural essential oils as a constituent. When present, are in very insignificant amounts.

Aromatherapy:

Aromatherapy is the use of plant essential oils to improve physical health as well as psychological health in bath water, as air fresheners or as massage oils. Chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse was the first to describe aromatherapy and the healing properties inherent in plants’ aroma. However, the use of oils from plants has always existed for thousands of years. Aromatherapy practice is a popular form of Alternative Health Care.
increasingly gaining popularity across the globe. Aromatherapy uses only pure, natural essential oils, each being ailment specific.

Here at 'Scentfull Kozies' We will deliver both!

What are the differences?

Therapeutic properties of plants have been known for ages by herbalist and other alternative care practitioners, the use of essential oils is now just a recent addition to the already wide array of alternative health care systems. The real difference between the two is that, aromachology is concerned with the study of synthetic and natural fragrance while aromatherapy limits itself to the use of the use of naturally existing sources of fragrance for healing purposes. Aromatherapy and aromachology are now widely in use today. Aromatherapy is the art of treating ailments with essential oils obtained from an extraction process of the leaves, stems, flowers or roots of plant and made into various forms useful to man. Its uses vary so much that many people now use the oils in cars as air freshener but especially to derive health benefits. Aromachology, a term introduced in 1982, is the study of the influence of smells on the behavior. So aromatherapy is actually a new approach to smelling a fragrance and beyond that derive positive influence in our health and general well-being.
Nicholas Culpeper in 1652 wrote the first "scientific" book that discussed the properties of plants. He discussed list of various medicinal plants found in England and the way they are obtained, prepared and used for treatment of ailments hundreds of years before the term "aromatherapy" was described by Chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse in his book Aromathérapie: les huiles essentielles, hormones végétales ("Gattefossé's Aromatherapy - The First Book on Aromatherapy translated from original 1937 French text). In his book, Rene-Maurice demonstrates how essential oils can reach vital organs through skin to create desirable effects in the body.
Another way of differentiating Aromachology and Aromatherapy, is by noting that, aromachology is a field of study that encompasses aromatherapy. So aromatherapy can be said to be a part of aromachology. Aromachology takes aromatherapy into consideration, by looking into the use of naturally occurring essential oils as well as synthetic fragrance.
Aromatherapy takes the cure of physical well-being of the body more seriously that aromachology that places more emphasis on the effect of aroma on human psyche.
Essential oils have complex and little understood effects on the body because of paucity of research in the field. There may be idiosyncrasies existing in the effects of the aroma and because very little studies have been carried out, people are made to think aromatherapy always works.
Nowadays, there is a very high tendency to believe that oils extracted from some plants have an effect on mood and behavior. So do we really believe they work? Some have argued that treatments that affect the mind usually depend on individual belief. This leave aromachology with a little edge because if its limited use to affect mood and behaviors alone, in a situation where aromatherapist claims they have got solutions to somatic problems, like motion sickness, skin diseases, sleeplessness, headache etc., without much research to back it up.
Despite this, a few proofs provided by aromachology is what most of the practices are based. For example, it has been proven that Rosemary oil enhances cognitive performance and users can improve clarity and focus, Peppermint is invigorating and Lavender is relaxing. The practice of Aromatherapy has withstood the test of time however, and in the west its popularity as a complementary medicine continues to grow especially with many people with insomnia claiming to have found relief after weeks of therapy with essential oils.

Busy Busy Busy ... Quick Note - Self Talk! YES, I CAN!!!

Familiar with self-talk? How about affirmations?Well, we all have self-talk and we all practice affirmations, intentionally or otherwise. The important thing is to think about what you want, not about what you don’t want. Even for a very positive person, there is still a vital element about your thoughts and desires that must be released correctly; And that element is positivity. Be sure that the way in which you present the desire is affirmative in nature.

Example:
Through self-talk of affirmation the thought is released, “I don’t want to be sick”.The Universe understands this as: Sick, I sick, want sick, be sick. There is no “don’t” in the thought vibration. The presence of fear is also released with this desire. Fear begets more fear and this is not the optimum result.
Another Example:
“I don’t want to loose my job.”, or “I am happy that I have not lost my job.”The Universe understands this as: job, loose job, want loose job, happy lost job.In the first example there is also fear associated with the desire. Never release fear with your desire, only strength and positivity.
Suggested correction:
Instead of “I don’t want to be sick”, you think or say, “I am thankful to be healthy”. Instead of thinking, “I don’t want to loose my job”, you say, “I am grateful to have a job”.

It’s pretty simple. Spend a day paying attention to your self-talk and how you express your fears and desires. Keep every thought to the affirmative.

Enjoy!

Soy Wax vs. Paraffin Wax
Currently, all of our candles are formulated with an extremely high-quality, Soft and Creamy, Paraffin wax blend. This specially formulated blend is the key element as to why our candles are so strong smelling. By researching you'll soon discover that "Soy" candles don't burn any cleaner than other types of candles. In fact, the whole "Soy Candles are Better" advertising campaign is just that - an advertising campaign! All we know is that out of all the different wax blends that we have personally tested (and that's a lot), the paraffin blend that we use, by far, out performs any soy based candle on the market in terms of scent throw. However, due to the growing popularity of soy wax, we are currently testing several soy blends...we just haven't found one that meets our "Scent Throw" standards. But we're looking and it is coming soon :)
